So what is the difference between restoring an instrument and repairing it? Repair work will return an instrument to playable condition and may also include updated components or modifications.

For the majority that is what is needed. Some instruments however due to their age or rarity demand advanced techniques to preserve their value, and more importantly to me, their history.

Often times this will include undoing previous repairs and making them correct. Great lengths are taken to preserve all the original components of the instrument and when replacements are necessary, only the minimum amount of material is replaced. Contact me for a consultation, you may be surprised at what can be done.
